The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD 2025, organized by LEAD-ACADEMY, honored the committed youth of the commune of Carrefour. This prestigious event brought together nearly 200 young people and many local actors to celebrate exemplary leadership in a region facing many challenges.

HaïtiFounded in December 2020 by Dwinny Belval, a governance technician, LEAD-ACADEMY’s mission is to train a new generation of responsible leaders in Haiti. Through training and action, this structure supports young people towards holistic development, allowing them to fully exploit their potential.
Despite a climate of insecurity marked by the presence of armed gangs in Carrefour, many young people demonstrate incredible resilience. Engaged in citizen initiatives and impact projects, they embody the hope and renewal of their community. The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD was designed to recognize and encourage these young people to continue their efforts.
The event began with a conference hosted by Sony Lamarre Joseph, CEO of Radio Lumière and best-selling author. He shared concrete tools to encourage young people to leave their positive mark on the world. Kimberline Noel moderated the discussions brilliantly, providing an engaging dynamic.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Valery Jean Paul, entrepreneur and rector of Grace Academy Of Theology, who praised this initiative and encouraged the winners to continue their commitment.
The event brought together a diverse and engaged audience. After an official presentation by Darlise Sintumas, Public Affairs Manager, a networking session allowed participants to exchange and strengthen their ties.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the musical performance of Grace Marcelin, who captivated the audience. The festive atmosphere, supported by light shows and special effects, added a magical dimension to the ceremony. The motivational speech by Edrice G. Payen, project coordinator, also left a strong impression on the participants.

Haitian cuisine is a veritable feast of flavors, where spices and aromas play a central role. Essential Haitian ingredients don’t just add flavor; they create a rich and complex aromatic profile that characterizes this vibrant cuisine. Among the most commonly used spices is chili pepper, which brings heat and intensity. Herbs such as thyme and parsley are often used fresh, adding a touch of freshness and depth. Garlic and ginger are also key elements, bringing spicy and earthy notes. Another iconic spice is clove, which is often used in marinades and stews. Saffron and turmeric are also present in Haitian cuisine, bringing not only color but also unique flavors. Lime zest and lemon juice are frequently used to enhance dishes, adding a refreshing acidity. Over time, our preferences evolve, and certain ingredients take up more or less space on our plates. "Ayiti Liv" is an online platform dedicated strictly to promoting Haitian literature. It will be operational starting May 1, 2025, and will feature about 300 major works of Haitian literature, written by over 70 authors. Full public access will be granted for its launch phase. Jean Venel Casseus, one of the platform’s initiators, explains that this initiative was created to fill a significant gap, and this vast project is being carried out by him and a passionate team of Haitian literature lovers.
On May 18, Haïti celebrates "Flag Day", a public holiday marking the creation of the Haitian flag in 1803. Displayed for the first time in Arcahaie by Jean-Jacques Dessalines, this national symbol results from the fight for independence against slavery and French domination. Established in 1926 by Timothée Paret, then Minister of Justice under the presidency of Louis Borno, this celebration took on a particular dimension in the midst of American occupation and remains as a tradition. Haitians honor this day with school parades, musical groups in the streets and patriotic songs, recalling the union and solidarity of ancestors. The “Flag Festival” is an opportunity to reflect on the values of freedom and determination which continue to forge the Haitian national identity.
