The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD 2025, organized by LEAD-ACADEMY, honored the committed youth of the commune of Carrefour. This prestigious event brought together nearly 200 young people and many local actors to celebrate exemplary leadership in a region facing many challenges.

HaïtiFounded in December 2020 by Dwinny Belval, a governance technician, LEAD-ACADEMY’s mission is to train a new generation of responsible leaders in Haiti. Through training and action, this structure supports young people towards holistic development, allowing them to fully exploit their potential.
Despite a climate of insecurity marked by the presence of armed gangs in Carrefour, many young people demonstrate incredible resilience. Engaged in citizen initiatives and impact projects, they embody the hope and renewal of their community. The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD was designed to recognize and encourage these young people to continue their efforts.
The event began with a conference hosted by Sony Lamarre Joseph, CEO of Radio Lumière and best-selling author. He shared concrete tools to encourage young people to leave their positive mark on the world. Kimberline Noel moderated the discussions brilliantly, providing an engaging dynamic.
During this first edition of the LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD, several young people were rewarded for their leadership and exceptional contribution:

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Valery Jean Paul, entrepreneur and rector of Grace Academy Of Theology, who praised this initiative and encouraged the winners to continue their commitment.
The event brought together a diverse and engaged audience. After an official presentation by Darlise Sintumas, Public Affairs Manager, a networking session allowed participants to exchange and strengthen their ties.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the musical performance of Grace Marcelin, who captivated the audience. The festive atmosphere, supported by light shows and special effects, added a magical dimension to the ceremony. The motivational speech by Edrice G. Payen, project coordinator, also left a strong impression on the participants.

He stressed the importance of celebrating and encouraging youth engagement, emphasizing the rarity of initiatives that value their impact.

Once a staple in Haitian homes, pea broth was a true culinary tradition, served almost every Saturday. This nourishing and comforting dish brought families together around the table, offering an explosion of flavors and essential nutritional intake. However, with changing eating habits and the growing influence of fast food, it is prepared less and less by the new generation, at the risk of falling into oblivion. Haitian pea broth is a thick soup prepared with red or black peas, simmered for a long time until they obtain a velvety texture. This broth is then seasoned with local spices such as garlic, thyme, parsley and cloves, then garnished with vegetables such as carrots and spinach. Some variations add pieces of meat, often beef or pork, and small dumplings called "dombrés" "bòy", which give it even more consistency. So why not revive this tradition and prepare a good pea broth this Saturday, like our grandparents did?

1- Abaka Bay (Île-à-Vache): Start your Haitian adventure with the magnificent Abaka Bay, recently named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by CNN. Located on the enchanting island of Île à Vache, this bay offers a pristine white sand beach and calm Caribbean waters, framed by lush green hills. Located in the turquoise waters off the coast of Plaine du Nord in northern Haiti, Île à Rat is a 1.8 hectare piece of white coral covered in a small wild forest. The island is a peaceful retreat, especially for couples looking for a serene getaway. To get to Île à Rat, you can take one of the many water taxis waiting in Labadee, a 30-minute drive from Cap-Haïtien. Keep in mind that the island is uninhabited, so it is important to bring everything you need for a comfortable stay, including drinking water. 3- Côtes des Arcadins: Nestled north of the bay of Port-au-Prince, Côtes des Arcadins stretches over 19 kilometers of white sand beaches lined with palm trees, making it one of the most popular seaside destinations from Haiti. The combination of the deep blue sea, mountains, mangrove forests and the coral reef formed by the Arcadins islets creates a breathtaking spectacle. It is also a great place for divers. To get there, follow the road north of the bay of Port-au-Prince. You will be amazed by the natural beauty of this region. 4- Plage de Gelée: This beach is one of the most popular thanks to its crystal clear waters and soft sand, all with a pastoral landscape in the background. If you are looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun, Gelée Beach is a great choice. 5- Jacmel Beach: Although swimming is not recommended here, Jacmel Beach is famous for its picturesque charm and artistic atmosphere. It is located in the historic town of Jacmel, known for its lively carnival and colorful houses. Explore the beach, admire the architecture and soak up Haitian culture.
